Laura has a varied NHS career (Assistant Business Manager in Orthopaedics / PA to Trauma Surgeon / Commissioning Manager) During this time she worked closely with the Public Health Team and gained an RSPH (Royal Society for Public Health) Certificate in Understanding Health Improvement. Laura says “I have seen the real cost to peoples health through being inactive, from patients wishing to remain more independent and those wanting to improve their health in general. Nordic Walking is a fantastic way to lose weight, get fit and have fun! I love being outdoors and exercising in the health club without walls is simply the best way to improve your health and wellbeing.”
My passion of the outdoors originated from my childhood. Whilst growing up in Somerset my parents would take my brother and I on regular walks and adventures around the Somerset levels. Having had over 12 years’ experience in the health and fitness industry, working with a variety of people from all walks of life I strive to share my love, passion and enthusiasm of the great outdoors with others through Nordic walking. I enjoy helping all abilities become a little more active in a fun and social way, whilst making new friends and exploring new adventures together.
Jayne is an experienced musculoskeletal physiotherapist, and was introduced to Nordic walking by a colleague when receiving treatment herself to assist returning to running after a back and hip injury. Since then Jayne has continued to Nordic walk herself, and used it with clients on a 1:1 basis. After seeing many physical and psychological benefits of Nordic walking over time with clients with a variety of health conditions Jayne decided to do the full Nordic Walking UK instructor course, with a vision to assist others reach their potential and goals, and enjoy the great outdoors.
You will be sure of a warm and friendly and welcome when you join my Nordic Walks. Having enjoyed walking in the hills and mountains for many years I am keen to share this love of the outdoors with others and encourage them to discover the benefits of exercising in the fresh air.
Nicky moved from 15 years in medicine to train as an exercise referral and cardiac rehabilitation specialist in 2001, in order to help patients improve their health outside the hospitals.
She trained as a Nordic Walking Instructor in 2008 as she felt that, as well as being a fitness activity that could be enjoyed by everyone, Nordic Walking is an extremely effective rehab tool in a huge number of chronic medical conditions.
Nicky is also a BASI Nordic National Ski Teacher and a member of the Mountain Leader Training Association (Hill Walking Group Leader qualified).
June has always enjoyed sport and this forms a major part of her life. Having played competitive tennis, enjoyed many years of horse riding, training and cycling, June’s knees have started to rebel against all this activity. It was in 2009 June started Nordic Walking with Sam and has never looked back and loves it.
